When four lost New Englanders enrolled in Marty’s community center drama class experiment with harmless games, hearts are quietly torn apart and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won.  Annie Baker’s new comedy is a beautifully crafted diorama, a petri dish in which we see, with hilarious detail and clarity, the antic sadness of a motley quintet.

Who are the people in your neighborhood? In 1959, a white family moves out.  In 2009, a white family moves in.  In the intervening years, change overtakes a neighborhood, along with attitudes, inhabitants, and property values.  Loosely inspired by Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, Bruce Norris's pitch-black comedy takes on the specter of gentrification in our communities, leaving no stone unturned in the process.

An African preacher-in-training arrives in drought-stricken rural America intending to further his studies in religion and water conservation. Hosted by a family that is haunted by tragedy, he takes an interest in a young orphan starved for guidance—all the while maintaining an infectious optimism in the face of his obstacles.  Undaunted, the preacher determines to battle—by any means necessary—the personal and political forces that threaten the ecology of his new home.

Anna, an Ivy League poetry scholar, and Sean, an Irish personal trainer, hardly seem destined for one another. But as their web of family and friends crosses distances both psychological and geographical, an unlikely new family is forged. Bathsheba Doran’s play sheds a sharp light on the changing face of kinship in the expansive landscape of the modern world.

A forgotten chorus boy from the theater of Ancient Greece, stuck in a lonely purgatory these past 2000 years, is sent back to earth on a mission from God. He now finds himself in Montauk, among a vacationing family, caught off-guard by his re-discovered ability to feel love. Go Back To Where You Are is a melancholy comic romance, told with Greenspan's unique brand of theatrical wit and exquisite lyricism.
