Associate General Manager

Organizational Summary:
Playwrights Horizons is a writer's theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary U.S. playwrights, composers and lyricists, and to the production of their new work.

Reports to:
General Manager   

Position Summary:
The Associate General Manager is a full-time, exempt position that works hand in hand with the General Manager overseeing all aspects of producing a season of plays, as well as workshops and readings. The position plays a significant role interacting regularly with all departments to support all of PH’s programs and initiatives 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Track contracts and process payment for a variety of artists
  • Assist GM with management of production financial reports including tracking actual expenses
  • Review box office settlements and prepare royalty reports
  • Manage music clearance
  • Oversee immigration and Visa needs
  • Serve as point person for all FOH staff.  Serve as a substitute company and house manager when needed
  • Contribute to the creation of season production calendars
  • Negotiate and execute facilities rental contracts.  
  • Manage rental budget
  • Oversee internal facilities booking and space management
  • Oversee Covid-related expense budget
  • Oversee General Management Fellow
  • Proof marketing materials

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in General or Company management
  • Proficiency with databases, Microsoft Office is required
  • Experience with Tessitura is preferred 
  • Working knowledge of union agreements, contracts and payroll processing experience a plus
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Calm under pressure
  • Good judgment, demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills with a desire to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Sense of humor

Compensation:
Full time employee benefit package includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, & Accident insurance, Paid Time Off, Health Reimbursement Account, Flexible Spending Account, 403(b) Retirement Plan, Half-Day Summer Fridays, and more!
Salary: $60,000-$65,000
