Leonard Peters

Director

Leonard Peters is an American director, author, and educator. Peters has directed more than 50 productions across the United States. In New York City his work has appeared at Playwrights Horizons, The WPA Theatre, La Mama etc., Circle Repertory Comapny, St. Clement’s Playhouse, The Joyce Theater, St. Mark’s-in-the-Bowery, Lincoln Center, and at the renowned Metropolitan Room.

In Washington, D.C. he directed at the Kennedy Center and The Folger Theatre and at many of the major League of Regional Theaters, nationwide.

Peters continues to bring his curiosity, passion, and keen director’s intelligence to diverse genres including musicals, narrative modern dance, symphony orchestra productions, film, television and cabaret.

Peters is the author of two books, Demystifying The Monologue: Your Road Map to a Compelling Performance and the forthcoming Demystifying Public Speaking: Your Road Map to Successful Presentation, and is the co-author and director of Babalu-cy! – The Art of Desi Arnaz (Winner of the 2008 Backstage Bistro Award, Best Theme Show). Currently he is working on  Dog Follies, a new musical.

Peters has taught at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and The New York Film Academy in New York.
