Madeleine George & Leigh Silverman visit IBM

In June 2013, Playwright Madeleine George and director Leigh Silverman visited IBM Research for a unique melding of science and dramatic arts. Madeleine's play, The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, is based in part on Watson's victory on the TV quiz show Jeopardy. Her goal at the lab was to get to know the IBM Watson technology better.

Madeleine and Leigh met with key members of the team that designed Watson. They compared notes on the creative process—what it takes to build a cognitive system that can help humans solve complex problems and what it takes to make a play that explores the relationships between human beings and machines.
