A Word from Our Artists

From Milo Cramer

Here is a tiny review of every show I’ve seen at Playwrights since I was the Literary Fellow 10 entire years ago:

What are these plays doing to me??? Have they made me smarter? Prettier? Richer? “Better”? A better son/citizen/lover? Unequivocally: yes. They somehow have. Underneath our silly daily lives is a secret ocean of history and meaning that these plays connect us to.

Very simply: Playwrights Horizons is one of the most beloved & important (& KINDEST) theaters in the country. I was only able to work on SCHOOL PICTURES with as much care and patient hope as I did because I knew if I ever finished it Playwrights Horizons would read it. So there!

But… Playwrights Horizons is also… a tiny little flower that needs protection. It needs water and sun. It relies on you. By donating you are fighting to preserve this beautiful weird flower that grows impossibly on 42nd and 9th, and works to turn carbon dioxide into oxygen. Thank you.

Warmly,
Milo Cramer

P.S. Double your impact. Donate before December 31 and your gift will be matched up to $60,000!
